On Saturday, US state secretary met Afghan government representatives and Afghan Taliban in Qatar regarding the peace situation in Afghanistan. Its the first time since decades when both Afghan government and Taliban are negotiating on the same table. Pompeo dealt with the parties differently in Qatar. Meeting with government representatives, Pompeo said, “I would be most interested in getting your thoughts on how we can increase the probability of a successful outcome”. Pompeo also met the Qatari ruler Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. US will pull out 2000 more troops from Afghanistan. As trump has repeatedly argued against the ‘forever wars’, the peace deal will make withdrawal possible until 2021.

Comparative to Joe Biden, Trump is more radical about the US withdrawal. Joe Biden will act slow in this manner while he agrees with the Trump stance. The concerns Trump is showing just before leaving his office, Afghanistan natives feels insecurity against Taliban. They believe that it will strengthen Taliban’s position on negotiation table. But, the future of Afghanistan resides in the hands of both conflicting parties, one the Taliban and the Afghan government.
