UN chief Antonio Guterres has condemned the one-sided decision of Israel to build new settlements in the West Bank. Recently, Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered to build new 800 settlements in West Bank. The move will damage the two-state solution and the peace of the region. Before, France had also condemned the Israeli measures to damage the stability amid new settlements. Guterres said, “the establishment by Israel of settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law. Settlement expansion further erodes the possibility of ending the occupation and establishing a contiguous and viable sovereign Palestinian State, based on the pre-1967 lines.”

The perspective came that the move from Netanyahu is to gain the vote in coming Elections from pro-settlement citiznes. Currently, 450,000 Israeli settlers are living illegally in West Bank with the Palestinians. Moreover, Netanyahu is also predicted to make moves to fully capture Golan Heights risking the security of the whole region. Under Trump, the Jewish state gained enough support at the international level from the super power-America for its illegal measures against Israel. Mike Pompeo was the first Secretary of the State to officially visit Israeli settlements in West Bank. But, Joe Biden, replacing the ally of Israel-Trump, will somehow manage to cater to the Israel-Palestine conflict peacefully.
