Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has confirmed the visit of PM Imran Khan to Moscow this month to discuss bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. Pakistan and Russia relations are on a positive trajectory, he said. Last month, PM Imran held a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders discussed issues of mutual concern and invited each other to visit their country. Prime Minister Office said regarding the bilateral connection, “The prime minister underscored that Pakistan’s bilateral relationship with Russia was on an upward trajectory with an increased focus on trade, economic ties, and energy cooperation. He reiterated the government’s resolve for the early realization of the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project.”

Putin’s criticism of the publication of blasphemous sketches in the French magazine Charlie Hebdo is also worth mentioning. Putin said that insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) does not count as an expression of artistic freedom, rather it is a violation of religious freedom. PM Imran praised him for his emphatic statement against French dual character. Moreover, Imran Khan has just returned from his four days long visit to China. Chinese officials affirmed their will to cooperate with Pakistan for regional stability. The spoilers do not want to see the CPEC progressing, state officials added. The foreign policy of Pakistan looks pragmatic seeing the narrative it is promulgating and keeping a fine balance between the west, China, and Russia.
